Enabling Development, Inc. is the sole manufacturer of Hip Helpers ®. We are a small business that is owned and operated by two pediatric occupational therapists. We have worked in early intervention, schools, NICU, and clinic based settings.
Hip Helpers ® are made by hand by local seamstresses in the Virginia Beach area. Some of our seamstresses have been making Hip Helpers for nearly 20 years.
Hip Helpers Support Shorts were developed by a physical therapist, in response to the physical therapist’s frustration with the “figure eight” wrap. They were designed for, and tested on, babies from six months to three years old in an early intervention program. They have also been used on older children with very positive results.
